Peter Quies Bio

Peter is a certified teacher who has over 10 years of experience as a full-time professional coach, including four years as an NCAA Division I coach and as a staff member for Olympic Development Programs for California Youth Soccer Association (California-South) and United States Youth Soccer (Region IV).  Peter's mentors have included Sigi Schmid (coach of Seattle Sounders & LA Galaxy), and Afshin Ghotbi (coach of Chinese Super League team Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, head coach for Iran, and assistant for US and South Korean World Cup Teams).

Peter has helped place scores of players at college programs on scholarship.  In addition, a number of his players have gone on to play professional soccer and be selected for national teams.  While no longer a professional coach, Peter is a teacher at heart and continues to inquire into how players learn best.  He believes that the psychological and social lessons learned through soccer are the most important elements of the game for young players as they transcend the field and have the power to help create healthy, strong, evolved human beings capable of making positive change in the world.  Peter also has not forgotten that soccer is about "play" and should provide avenues to joy and transcendent experiences.

Peter was one of the first American players to play in Europe.  In Germany, he played for a club that won the U19 national championship before going on to play professionally.  He also played professionally in Costa Rica and has been a teammate of world cup players from numerous countries.

Peter spent five months studying coaching full-time at the German Soccer Federation School in Barsinghausen.  He also participated in portions of the German Soccer Federation's "A" license coaching course during his playing days.  He has completed an English FA coaching course and holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license.
